Castle in the Sky

Castle in the Sky is my own personal depiction of what a higher kingdom might look like, a form of spiritual heaven.
High above the clouds, where the air is untouched by the turbulence of the mountains and valleys far below, and the sunlight becomes a blinding white, lies an undiscovered land.

A tiered garden alive with cascading flowers, warm bubbling water, and lush trees. Royal blue–roofed rooms look out across a sea of soft clouds stretching endlessly toward the horizon.
The strange irony with this place is that trying to find it would be a mistake. First you need to find yourself, then, perhaps, you might catch a glimpse.

Castle in the Sky was created entirely on my laptop while living on a campsite in Cyprus, completely barefoot, sleeping in a tent in the woods surrounded by the rich scent of pine trees. The place where I was staying layered and elevated - stretching down to the sea - became a core inspiration for this world.
This piece brings together several long-standing interests of mine: spirituality and meditation, 16th-century Renaissance art, and the legacy of Aziz Shavershian, which informs the soundtrack to the timelapse of this artwork’s creation.
